Suunnittelemastaan

Suunnittelemastaan is a Finnish participial form derived from the verb suunnitella, meaning to plan. In Finnish grammar it is used as part of a reduced relative clause to describe a noun by referring to something that the subject planned. The form is often seen in phrases where a noun is accompanied by a participle in the genitive form, such as suunnittelemastaan projektista, meaning “the project he had planned,” or suunnittelemastaan suunnitelmasta, meaning “the plan he had drafted.”

Morphology and use

The construction combines the present active participle stem of suunnitella with inflection that marks possession and relates it to a following noun in a particular case. The resulting form functions adjectivally, modifying the noun in the sentence and conveying a sense of “that/which he planned.” This allows speakers to embed a relative clause with fewer words than a full kuten hän suunnitteli—tai, "the project that he planned."
