Supertrees

Supertrees are a series of vertical gardens located in Singapore's Gardens by the Bay. These structures are designed to mimic trees and serve multiple ecological functions. They reach heights of up to 50 meters and are covered with a diverse range of plant life, including epiphytes, ferns, and orchids. The Supertrees are not just decorative; they are integrated with environmental technologies.

The primary purpose of the Supertrees is to showcase sustainable technologies and provide ecological benefits. They are equipped with photovoltaic cells that generate solar power, contributing to the energy needs of the Gardens by the Bay. Furthermore, the Supertrees incorporate systems for harvesting rainwater, which is then used for irrigation and other purposes within the park. Their large canopy-like structures also provide shade, helping to cool the surrounding areas.

Visitors can experience the Supertrees up close. The "OCBC Skyway" is a 128-meter-long aerial walkway that connects two of the Supertrees, offering panoramic views of the Gardens and the city skyline. At night, the Supertrees come alive with a light and sound show called "Garden Rhapsody," which illuminates the structures and plays music, creating a spectacular visual display. The Supertrees represent an innovative approach to urban greenery and sustainable development.
