Substantivized is a linguistic term referring to a word that has been transformed into a noun. This process, known as substantivization, can occur with various parts of speech, most commonly adjectives, verbs, and adverbs. When an adjective is substantivized, it functions as a noun, often referring to a concept or a person characterized by that adjective. For example, "the good" can refer to goodness itself or a good person. Similarly, verbs can be substantivized to represent the action or the result of that action. "A painting" is a substantivized form of the verb "to paint." Adverbs, though less frequently substantivized, can also take on noun roles, typically denoting a manner or a circumstance. The grammatical function of a substantivized word shifts from its original category to that of a noun, allowing it to be used as a subject, object, or complement within a sentence.
