Studije

Studije is a term used in several South Slavic languages to denote studies, research, or an organized program of learning. In everyday use it can refer to the activity of studying, to a field of knowledge, or to a degree program that groups courses and examinations into a coherent curriculum.

In Croatian, Bosnian, and Serbian, studije is the plural form, while the singular is studija. The word derives from Latin studium and has cognates in many languages; in its modern Slavic usage it commonly appears in academic contexts to name disciplines (for example, studije historije, studije književnosti) and to refer to the broader concept of higher education.

Outside specific degree programs, studije can denote research activity or scholarly inquiry within a field, as in "humanističke studije" (humanities studies) or "statističke studije" (statistical studies). The term is often found in university catalogs, departmental names, and program titles.

The term remains common in contemporary academic discourse in the region.
