Stráov

Stráov is a village and municipality in the Kladno District of the Central Bohemian Region in the Czech Republic.

The municipality covers an area of 3.36 km² and has a population of approximately 1,500 people.

Stráov was first mentioned in a written record in 1333 as Strauw, likely named after a local Slavic tribe, the Stravi. The village has historically been part of the Kladno region and developed primarily as an agricultural community.

Today, the village has a mix of residential, agricultural, and forested areas. The majority of the local economy is based on farming, animal husbandry, and small-scale industry. Historically, the region has been known for its production of grains, flax, and beer.

Stráov is located approximately 3 km from the regional town of Slaný and around 35 km northwest of Prague. The village is accessible by car via main roads connecting to both Slaný and Prague.

Stráov has a local elementary school that serves children aged 5 to 10. Children attend a middle school in the regional town of Slaný and high school in Kladno.

The countryside surrounding Stráov features forests, wheat fields, and local sandstone hills. Local parks and public spaces are found in both Stráov itself and neighboring villages.
