Strupehodet

Strupehodet is a fictional mountain peak located in the Nordmark Highlands, a remote mountainous region in the northern part of the fictional country of Nordheim. The summit rises to about 1,450 meters above sea level and is noted for its distinctive hood-like summit that crowns the surrounding valleys and can be seen from several neighboring ridges.

Etymology and naming conventions trace Strupehodet to Norwegian elements strupe, meaning throat, and hodet, meaning head. Local folklore interprets the name as a reference to the peak’s narrow, helmet-like crown that appears to “watch over” the valley below.

Geography and geology Strupehodet sits on a belt of Precambrian bedrock consisting mainly of gneiss and granite. The mountain features glacially carved cirques on its eastern side, steep west faces, and scree slopes near the summit. Vegetation is limited to alpine tundra and hardy dwarf shrubs, with lichens and mosses dominating the rock surfaces. Fauna includes alpine choughs, rock ptarmigan, and mountain hares.

History and culture The peak has long served as a landmark for local travelers and herders. In the fictional lore of Nordheim, Strupehodet is associated with wind spirits and is said to protect the valley during storms. Access and recreation Marked trails lead to several saddle routes from the Struve Pass and the North Gate. Typical ascents take a full day, with best conditions in midsummer to early autumn.
