If one of the peripheral nodes fails, it does not affect the operation of the rest of the network. However, if the central hub or switch fails, the entire network becomes inoperable. This topology is relatively easy to install and manage, making it a popular choice for small to medium-sized networks. The cost of installation is moderate, primarily due to the need for a central device. Troubleshooting is also straightforward, as the central hub can be easily monitored and managed. Performance can be a bottleneck if the central hub is overloaded with traffic, as all data must pass through it. The scalability of a star topology is limited by the capacity of the central hub. Adding new nodes requires connecting them to the central device.
