Stiftungengrew is a private philanthropic foundation based in Hamburg, Germany. It was established in 1998 by entrepreneur and philanthropist Klaus Engrew with the aim of supporting social and cultural initiatives that promote equality and community development. The foundation’s charter emphasises flexibility, allowing it to fund both short‑term and long‑term projects across a broad spectrum of fields including education, healthcare, environmental sustainability and the arts.

The governance structure of Stiftungengrew comprises a Board of Trustees drawn from the foundation’s early staff, local business leaders and academics. The trustees meet quarterly to review grant proposals and assess the impact of funded projects. An independent audit office ensures transparency and accountability in financial reporting.

Since its inception, Stiftungengrew has awarded approximately €12 million in grants, supporting more than 350 projects. Notable initiatives include the “Urban Green Roof Initiative” in Berlin, which provided funding for renewable energy solutions in low‑income districts, and the “Youth Cultural Exchange Programme,” which facilitated exchanges for students from rural areas across Europe. In the health sector, the foundation partnered with local hospitals to implement affordable telemedicine services in underserved communities.

Stiftungengrew operates on a transparent online portal where applicants can submit proposals and track the status of their applications. The foundation also publishes an annual report summarising its financial health and the outcomes of its projects. While it remains a private entity, Stiftungengrew collaborates regularly with governmental agencies and international NGOs to maximise the reach and sustainability of its funding initiatives.
