Stemminglemmatisaatio is a process in natural language processing and computational linguistics that aims to reduce words to their base or root form. This is a crucial step in many text analysis tasks, as it helps to group together different variations of the same word, treating them as a single concept.

Stemming is a more rudimentary approach that typically involves chopping off prefixes and suffixes from words. For example, a stemmer might reduce "running," "ran," and "runner" to "run." While effective at reducing word variations, stemming can sometimes produce non-existent words or group unrelated words together. It is generally faster than lemmatisation.

Lemmatisation, on the other hand, is a more sophisticated process that uses vocabulary and morphological analysis to return the base or dictionary form of a word, known as the lemma. For instance, lemmatisation would reduce "better" to "good" and "is," "are," and "am" to "be." This process ensures that the resulting root word is a valid word in the language.
