StarClan

StarClan is a fictional pantheon of deceased cats in the Warriors series by Erin Hunter. They are the ancestral spirits who watch over the four Clans—ThunderClan, RiverClan, ShadowClan, and WindClan—from the stars. StarClan serves as the source of guidance, prophecy, and moral authority for living clan members, and their messages influence decisions ranging from leadership to major quests.

StarClan is composed of former leaders and other notable warriors who have died in the line of duty. They are believed to reside among the stars, where they observe the living and send guidance. Their approval is often required for a new leader or a future direction for the Clans. They uphold the Warrior Code and can reward or admonish cats through omens.

Living cats communicate with StarClan primarily through dreams, often mediated by medicine cats, who are the Clan's spiritual leaders. StarClan's messages may come as visions, signs, or prophetic dreams. Sacred places such as the Moonstone (in some continuity) are described as locations where medicine cats meet StarClan, receive guidance, or reaffirm oaths.

StarClan's presence shapes Clan ceremonies and succession, providing a framework of legitimacy for leadership and a source of encouragement during crises. The concept is central to the Warriors series' portrayal of fate, loyalty, and the balance between freedom and duty.
