Standpointteoriat, or standpoint theory, is a concept in feminist epistemology and social theory that argues that knowledge is socially situated and that the social location of individuals, particularly marginalized groups, influences the knowledge they produce. It posits that those who occupy positions of oppression or marginalization often have a more critical and potentially more complete understanding of social power structures than those in dominant positions.
