Stalybridge is a market town in Greater Manchester, England. Historically part of Cheshire, it lies on the River Tame and the Huddersfield Narrow Canal. The town developed significantly during the Industrial Revolution, becoming a centre for cotton spinning and manufacturing. Its name is thought to derive from a stone bridge said to have belonged to a Staley family.
