Srikurmam

Srikurmam is a village and a significant religious site located in the Srikakulam district of Andhra Pradesh, India. It is renowned for the Srikurmam Temple, dedicated to Lord Vishnu in his Kurma (tortoise) avatar. The temple is one of the few in India where the presiding deity is worshipped as Kurmanatha, the cosmic tortoise. Legend states that the deity emerged from the sea at this spot.

The Srikurmam Temple is considered one of the ancient temples in the region, with its origins traced back to the 11th or 12th century CE. The architecture reflects various influences from different dynasties that ruled the area. The temple complex is characterized by its intricate carvings and sculptures, depicting mythological scenes and deities.
