Språkagnostiske refers to a specific type of language ideology that emerged in 20th-century Norway. This ideology emphasized the need for a neutral, inclusive language that would not reflect or perpetuate existing social hierarchies or power structures. The term originates from the words "språk" meaning language and "agnostisk" meaning agnostic.

One of the key tenets of språkagnostiske was the idea that language should be neutral and avoid taking a stance on controversial issues. This approach was deeply tied to the Norwegian concept of "janteloven" or "the law of Jante," a set of principles that emphasized equality, humility, and avoidance of boastfulness. Proponents of språkagnostiske argued that language should not be used to dominate or marginalize others, but rather to promote mutual understanding and respect.

The concept of språkagnostiske gained significant attention in Norway during the 1970s and 1980s, particularly among linguists and educators.
