SpotPass
SpotPass is a feature introduced by Nintendo for its 3DS and Wii U consoles, designed to deliver content wirelessly without active user input. It leverages public Wi-Fi hotspots, such as those found in McDonald's restaurants or other participating locations, as well as home Wi-Fi networks, to automatically download a variety of digital content. This content can include software updates, free demos, trailers, game-related notifications, and even exclusive downloadable items or characters for compatible games.
The primary goal of SpotPass is to provide a seamless and convenient way for users to receive
