Sportlichere

Sportlichere is the inflected comparative form of the German adjective sportlich, meaning more sporty or athletic. It is used to express a higher degree of sportiness in comparison between two or more nouns.

In German, adjectives decline according to case, gender, number, and the presence of an article. When sportlich appears with a definite article or other determiner, the singular form is sportlichere: der sportlichere Mann, die sportlichere Frau, das sportlichere Auto. In plural, after a definite article or similar determiner, the form becomes sportlicheren: die sportlicheren Autos.

Without a definite determiner, the plural can take the form sportlichere: sportlichere Autos sind schneller. In general, sportlichere is used to compare items within the same category, for example discussing performance, design, or style that is more athletic or vigorous than another item.

The term is common in everyday language, sports journalism, and marketing to highlight increased performance or aesthetic appeal. It is not a superlative; the corresponding superlative would be am sportlichsten (or die sportlichsten) for the highest degree of sportiness.
