Spielbericht

Spielbericht is a German term for the formal written record of a sporting match. In many German-speaking football environments, the Spielbericht is produced after a game by the match officials and submitted to the competition organizer. It constitutes the official account of the event and can be used to inform decisions by disciplinary bodies, update competition statistics, and archive the match.

The document typically includes identifying information (competition, date, venue, teams), final score, and a chronology of significant events (goal times, substitutions, cautions and expulsions), together with the names of match officials and players who participated in the match. It may also note injuries, incidents, weather conditions, attendance, and any irregularities or disputes. Depending on the competition, the report contains lineups and substitutions, card details (yellow/red), and basic match statistics.

Publication and storage: The Spielbericht is submitted to the league or federation in charge of the competition and stored in official databases. In public-facing contexts, clubs or leagues may publish a match report for fans on websites or in media releases. In some cases a separate Schiedsrichterbericht (referee report) accompanies the document, detailing refereeing decisions and discipline.

Variations: The term is also used more generally for post-match reports written by clubs or media, which describe the game for audiences but are not the official administrative document.
