SpiderMans

SpiderMans refers informally to multiple male characters who assume the Spider-Man mantle in Marvel Comics and related media. The characters share a common motif of a test of responsibility after gaining powers from a bite of a spider and adapting to protect New York City. The earliest Spider-Man is Peter Parker, created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko, debuting in Amazing Fantasy #15 (1962). Since then, the mantle has been adopted by other characters across alternate universes and media.

In the comics, besides Peter Parker, notable SpiderMans include Miles Morales (though originally Spider-Man in the Ultimate Universe, now part of main continuity), Miguel O’Hara (Spider-Man 2099), and several alternate-universe versions who appeared in the Spider-Verse storyline. In video games, Miles Morales stars as a playable Spider-Man in games like Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales (2020) and Spider-Man 2 (2023). The Spider-Verse concept popularized the idea that many different Spider-People can exist and operate in parallel or alternate realities.

The label SpiderMans is informal and primarily used by fans and commentators to refer to the group of male characters who have worn the Spider-Man mantle across comics, film, and games. Marvel has produced many continuities where different individuals assume the role, with varying backstories, powers, and supporting casts. The Spider-Verse concept formalized the idea of multiple Spider-People existing simultaneously in alternate realities, though not all may be called SpiderMans in official listings.
