Spicalculus

Spicalculus is a fictional algebraic concept used in mathematical thought experiments and speculative fiction to illustrate how altering axioms can change the nature of an algebraic system. It does not have a single canonical definition, and explanations vary by author or context.

In common portrayals, a Spicalculus is a set equipped with binary operations that resemble addition and multiplication, but whose governing axioms are chosen to highlight different possibilities. Depending on the treatment, the structure may be noncommutative, nonassociative, or feature unusual units and inverses.
