Spermavizsgálat, also known as semen analysis, is a laboratory test that evaluates the physical properties and the number of sperm in a man's semen sample. This examination is a crucial part of male fertility assessments and can also be used to confirm the success of a vasectomy. The test typically measures several parameters, including semen volume, sperm concentration (count), sperm motility (ability to move), and sperm morphology (shape).

A standard semen analysis involves collecting a semen sample through masturbation, usually after a period of 2 to 5 days of abstinence. The sample is then examined under a microscope by a trained technician or laboratory professional. Besides the sperm parameters, the test also assesses the overall appearance and viscosity of the semen. Abnormal results in any of these areas can indicate potential fertility issues or other underlying medical conditions.

In cases where a vasectomy has been performed, sperm analysis is used to confirm that no sperm are present in the ejaculate, indicating the procedure's effectiveness. Regular follow-up tests are usually recommended after a vasectomy. If fertility is a concern, a sperm analysis provides valuable information that can guide further diagnostic steps or treatment options.
