Spektrivööndid

Spektrivööndid, also known as spectral bands or spectral regions, refer to specific ranges of wavelengths within the electromagnetic spectrum. These ranges are often defined based on their distinct physical properties and how they interact with matter. The electromagnetic spectrum is continuous, but it is conventionally divided into several broad categories. These include radio waves, microwaves, infrared radiation, visible light, ultraviolet radiation, X-rays, and gamma rays, each encompassing a wide range of wavelengths.

Within these broader categories, more specific spektrivööndid are identified. For example, in the visible light portion of the spectrum, the individual colors – red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet – represent distinct spektrivööndid, each with a specific wavelength range. Similarly, infrared radiation is often subdivided into near-infrared, short-wave infrared, and thermal infrared, based on differing absorption and emission characteristics.
