The term is a loanword from Italian specialità, adapted to Albanian usage. In Albanian it is declined like other common nouns, with definite singular specialiteti and plural specialitetet.

In gastronomy, specialiteti refers to a house specialty or a chef's signature dish. Restaurants may label specialiteti i shtëpisë or specialiteti i kuzhinës to highlight a dish that represents the establishment’s culinary identity.

In professional or academic contexts, specialiteti denotes an area of expertise or specialization. For example, a doctor’s specialiteti is a particular medical field, and a researcher might list their specialitetet to indicate focus areas.
