Spartacist
The term Spartacist originally refers to a member of the Spartacus League, a revolutionary Marxist organization founded in early 1918 in Germany. The group derived its name from its founder, Karl Liebknecht, who cited the ancient Thracian gladiator Spartacus as a symbol of rebellion against oppression. The Spartacus League was affiliated with the newly formed Independent Social Democratic Party of Germany (USPD) and aimed to create an international socialist revolution during the final stages of World War I.
