Souhaiteton

Souhaiteton is a coastal town in the northern region of Valoria, along the sheltered Bay of Lumen. It lies about 60 kilometers from the capital and serves as the administrative seat of Souhaiteton Municipality. The town's population is around 9,800 as of 2023.

The name combines the Old French souhai(t) meaning wish and ton meaning town, reflecting a legendary origin in which the townspeople wished for safe harbors.

Geographically, Souhaiteton features a crescent shoreline, a small river delta, and rolling hills inland. The climate is temperate maritime, with mild winters and cool summers, and frequent sea breezes.

Founded in the 12th century as a fishing village, Souhaiteton expanded in the 19th century after a railway line connected it to larger markets. Its harbor was modernized in the early 20th century and remains central to the economy.

Today the economy combines fishing, small-scale manufacturing, and tourism. The town hosts an annual Lantern Festival and has a historic lighthouse and a market square with crafts and seafood stalls.

Governed by a municipal council, Souhaiteton is part of the Valorian prefecture system. The community is diverse, with long-established families alongside newer residents from neighboring regions.
