Solarkonzentratoren

Solarkonzentratoren, also known as solar concentrators, are devices that use mirrors or lenses to focus a large area of sunlight onto a small area. This concentration of solar energy can significantly increase the temperature of the focal point, allowing for various applications.

The primary principle behind solarkonzentratoren is optical reflection or refraction. Parabolic mirrors, such as parabolic troughs or dishes, are common designs that reflect and converge sunlight to a focal line or point. Lenses, like Fresnel lenses, can also be used to achieve a similar concentrating effect.

The concentrated solar energy can be used for several purposes. In solar thermal power plants, the intense heat generated at the focal point is used to heat a fluid, such as molten salt or oil. This heated fluid then drives a turbine to produce electricity. Solarkonzentratoren are also employed in solar furnaces for high-temperature industrial processes, material testing, and scientific research. Additionally, they can be used for solar cooking and water purification in off-grid or remote locations.

The efficiency of a solarkonzentrator depends on factors like the design of the optical elements, the precision of their alignment, and the atmospheric conditions. Tracking systems are often integrated to continuously adjust the orientation of the concentrator to follow the sun's path, maximizing the amount of captured sunlight throughout the day.
