Sobrexpressed

Sobrexpressed is a term used in biology, particularly in molecular biology and genetics, to describe a gene or protein whose activity is higher than normal. This elevated level of expression can be a natural phenomenon or a result of experimental manipulation or disease.

In the context of genetics, gene expression refers to the process by which information from a gene is used to synthesize a functional gene product, usually a protein. When a gene is overexpressed, it means that more messenger RNA (mRNA) is produced from that gene, leading to a greater abundance of the corresponding protein. This can alter cellular function by increasing the concentration of a particular protein beyond its typical physiological range.
