Skärningsdetalj, which translates to "intersection detail" or "cutaway detail" in English, is a term commonly used in technical drawing and engineering to describe a specific type of drawing that reveals internal features of an object. It is essentially a modified view that shows what would be seen if a portion of the object were cut away.

The primary purpose of a skärningsdetalj is to illustrate hidden or inaccessible parts of a component without obscuring the overall external form. This is achieved by removing a section of the object, often in a geometric shape like a rectangle, cylinder, or even an irregular form, to expose the internal structure. The lines representing the cut surface are typically depicted with a distinct pattern, such as cross-hatching, to differentiate them from external or hidden lines.

Skärningsdetaljer are crucial for understanding complex assemblies, mechanisms, and internal geometries that cannot be adequately represented by standard orthographic projections (like top, front, and side views).
