Skellingthorpe

Skellingthorpe is a village and civil parish in the North Kesteven district of Lincolnshire, England. It is located approximately three miles west of the city of Lincoln. The village is situated near the A46 road and the B1003.

Historically, Skellingthorpe was part of the West Ashby parish. The name Skellingthorpe is believed to have Old Norse origins, possibly meaning "farmstead of Skjöld". The village is mentioned in the Domesday Book as "Scheldingetorp".

The civil parish of Skellingthorpe covers an area of approximately 3,400 acres. The village itself has a mix of residential housing, some local businesses, and amenities. A notable feature of Skellingthorpe is the presence of woodland, including Skellingthorpe Woods, which is a popular area for recreation.

The Church of St John the Baptist is the parish church, a Grade II listed building. The village has a primary school, Skellingthorpe St. John's CofE Primary School. Skellingthorpe has a community hub and a local pub. Its proximity to Lincoln makes it a residential base for some who work in the city. The Lincoln to Saxilby railway line runs to the north of the village, though the nearest station is in Saxilby.
