Skaleneita

Skaleneita is a term used in mathematics to describe a type of triangle. Specifically, a scalene triangle is a triangle that has no equal sides. Consequently, all three of its angles are also unequal. This property distinguishes it from other types of triangles such as isosceles triangles, which have at least two equal sides and two equal angles, and equilateral triangles, which have three equal sides and three equal angles.

The name "scalene" originates from the Latin word "scalēnus," meaning "uneven" or "lacking." The definition of a scalene triangle is fundamental in Euclidean geometry. When considering the side lengths of a triangle, let them be denoted by a, b, and c. For a triangle to be scalene, the condition a ≠ b, a ≠ c, and b ≠ c must hold true. Similarly, if the angles are denoted by α, β, and γ, then for a scalene triangle, α ≠ β, α ≠ γ, and β ≠ γ.

In practical terms, any triangle that does not fit the definition of an isosceles or equilateral triangle is a scalene triangle. This includes a vast majority of triangles that can be drawn. For example, a right-angled triangle can be scalene if all its sides are of different lengths.
