Singhalese
Singhalese refers to the ethnic group native to Sri Lanka, also known as Sinhalese people. They form the largest ethnic community on the island, constituting about 75% of the population. The Singhalese people primarily speak Sinhala, an Indo-Aryan language. Their cultural heritage is deeply intertwined with Buddhism, as a significant majority of the Singhalese are adherents of Theravada Buddhism.
