Silikonölen

Silikonölen, also known as silicone oils or polysiloxanes, are synthetic polymers derived from silicon, oxygen, carbon, and hydrogen. They are characterized by their inertness, resistance to extreme temperatures, and lubricating properties. Silicone oils are available in a wide range of viscosities, from thin liquids to thick greases. Their chemical structure, consisting of repeating siloxane bonds (Si-O), grants them stability and resistance to oxidation and UV radiation.

These versatile compounds find extensive use in numerous industries. In personal care products, they act as emollients and conditioners in cosmetics, hair care, and skincare formulations, providing a smooth feel and reducing friction. Their thermal stability makes them suitable as heat transfer fluids in industrial processes and as hydraulic fluids in demanding environments. Silicone oils are also employed as lubricants in automotive applications, machinery, and as release agents in manufacturing processes, preventing materials from sticking to molds. Furthermore, their water-repellent properties are utilized in protective coatings and sealants. Due to their low toxicity and biocompatibility, they are also found in some medical devices and pharmaceutical applications.
