Siirtovähennyksiä

Siirtovähennyksiä, also known as transfer allowances, are a type of tax deduction available in Finland for individuals who have moved to Finland from another EU/EEA country or Switzerland. The purpose of these allowances is to help individuals adapt to their new living environment by covering some of the initial costs associated with moving.

The amount of the allowance is determined by the individual's personal circumstances, such as their age, family status, and the number of dependents. The maximum allowance for a single person is 1,500 euros, and for a family with two children, it can be up to 4,500 euros. The allowance is typically paid in two installments, with the first payment made within three months of the move and the second payment made within six months.

To qualify for siirtovähennyksiä, individuals must meet certain criteria, including having lived in the EU/EEA or Switzerland for at least five years in the past ten years and having moved to Finland for personal reasons. Additionally, individuals must have a valid residence permit and be registered with the Finnish tax authorities.

Siirtovähennyksiä are intended to be a temporary measure to help individuals settle into their new lives in Finland. The allowances are not meant to replace other forms of financial assistance, such as unemployment benefits or social welfare payments. Individuals who receive siirtovähennyksiä are still required to pay taxes on the allowance amount.
