Siirronhallinnassa

Siirronhallinnassa, also known as "castling" in English, is a special move in chess where the king and a rook are moved simultaneously. The objective of castling is to increase the safety of the king by moving it to a position where it is less likely to be attacked by the opponent's pieces. There are two types of castling: kingside castling and queenside castling.

Kingside castling involves moving the king two squares towards the king's rook, and then placing the rook on the square the king skipped over. This move is denoted by the king moving two squares to the right on the chessboard. Queenside castling involves moving the king two squares towards the queen's rook, and then placing the rook on the square the king skipped over. This move is denoted by the king moving two squares to the left on the chessboard.

Castling is only allowed if the following conditions are met: the king and the rook involved have not previously moved; there are no pieces between the king and the rook; the king is not in check; and the king does not pass through check. If any of these conditions are not met, castling is not allowed.

Castling is a strategic move that can significantly alter the position on the chessboard. It is often used to improve the king's safety and to connect the rooks, which can be useful for attacking the opponent's position.
