Sidekudic

Sidekudic is a constructed language and writing system created for a fictional universe. It functions as the primary language of the Sidekudi people and appears in novels, games, and role-playing settings. The language combines an agglutinative morphology with synthetic features and is typologically SOV. Noun phrases mark case and number with a set of seven cases, while verbs inflect for tense, aspect, mood, voice, and evidentiality. Sidekudic features a moderate degree of polysynthesis; some complex verb forms encode subject, object, and clausal relationships within a single predicate. The lexicon draws on mixtures of hypothetical roots from two source languages in the world-building, with a productive system of derivation and compounding.

Sidekudic is written with the Sidekudic script, a mixed logographic-syllabary designed to encode both semantic and phonetic information. The script has two primary forms: a rigid, engraved style used in monumental inscriptions and a flowing cursive used for everyday manuscripts. A romanization system exists for academic discussion.

Developed in the fictional history of the Sidekudi, the language arose from contact between coastal traders and inland agricultural communities, resulting in creolization and later standardization around legal and ceremonial registers. In the fiction, texts include epic poetry, legal codes, and religious hymns. In modern fan communities, Sidekudic has been expanded with additional dialects and vocabulary.
