Sickergräben
Sickergräben are shallow, narrow drainage trenches designed to promote the infiltration of water into the soil. They are used in agricultural land management and environmental engineering to remove excess surface water, leachate from storage facilities, or other liquids by distributing them over a broad area for percolation and natural treatment by the soil.
Construction and design: a Sickergraben typically consists of a trench excavated in the ground, sometimes lined
Operation: water entering the trench percolates down through the coarse material into the native soil. Infiltration
Applications and considerations: Sickergräben are used for field drainage, disposal or spreading of wastewater or slurry
