Shobana

Shobana is an Indian classical and playback dancer, choreographer, and film actress. Born on March 21, 1970, in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India, she is one of the few artists to have achieved recognition in both film and classical dance fields. Shobana's father, Jesudas, was a renowned playback singer in the Malayalam film industry.

Shobana began her training in Bharatanatyam, a classical dance form, under the tutelage of Adhirai Thirunarayanan. She made her film debut in 1986 with the Malayalam film "Oru Poovathinikkaritha Rathriyil." Subsequent roles in films such as "Anjali" and "Maya Ramachandraraman" established her as a talented actress. Her choreographic work includes famous sequences in "Dil Ka Kya Dard Hai" and "Saajan."

Throughout her career, Shobana has received numerous awards, including a National Film Award for Best Actress for her role in "Minnale" (2001). Her performances often reflect a blend of traditional and modern styles, captivating audiences and earning her critical acclaim. Shobana continues to work in the film industry while also pursuing her passion for dance through teaching and choreographing.
