Shinsekai
Shinsekai, also known as the "New World," is a fictional society depicted in the 1987 novel by Japanese author Yotsumoto Yoshibe and its 1987 anime adaptation, created by A.I.C. The story is set a thousand years in the future, after a cataclysmic event that wiped out most of humanity. The survivors, who developed psychic abilities known as "cantus," established a highly controlled and stratified society. This society is governed by strict rules and rituals designed to maintain order and prevent the misuse of their powers.
The narrative primarily follows a group of young people as they navigate the complexities of their world.
