Seravezza

Seravezza is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Lucca, in the Tuscany region of central Italy. It is part of the Versilia area, a coastal stretch that includes towns such as Viareggio and Forte dei Marmi. The municipality lies in the valley of the Serchio river and extends into the Apuan Alps, giving it a mix of valley and mountainous landscapes.

History and economy: The area has a long tradition of marble quarrying and processing in the nearby Apuan Alps. Marble from Seravezza and the surrounding quarries has supported local workshops and trade for centuries, with significant activity during the Renaissance and continuing into modern times. Today marble remains a key part of the local economy, complemented by tourism, agriculture, and small manufacturing.
