Sekundaarikiertoon

Sekundaarikiertoon refers to a secondary circulation system in the human body, also known as the pulmonary circulation. This system is distinct from the primary circulation, which is the systemic circulation that carries oxygenated blood from the heart to the rest of the body and returns deoxygenated blood back to the heart. The secondary circulation specifically involves the transport of deoxygenated blood from the heart to the lungs and the return of oxygenated blood back to the heart.

The secondary circulation begins with the right ventricle of the heart pumping deoxygenated blood into the pulmonary arteries. These arteries branch into smaller arteries and then into capillaries, which surround the alveoli in the lungs. In the alveoli, oxygen from the inhaled air diffuses into the blood, and carbon dioxide, a waste product, diffuses out of the blood into the alveoli to be exhaled. The oxygenated blood then flows into the pulmonary veins, which carry it back to the left atrium of the heart.

This secondary circulation is crucial for the exchange of gases, ensuring that the body receives a continuous supply of oxygen while removing carbon dioxide. The efficiency of this process is vital for maintaining proper cellular function and overall health.
