Sejtszövetekre, which translates to "tissue layers" or "cellular layers" in English, refers to the distinct layers of cells that form in the early development of most animals, known as the germ layers. These layers are the foundational structures from which all the various tissues and organs of the body will differentiate. The most common germ layers are the ectoderm, mesoderm, and endoderm.

The ectoderm is the outermost layer and typically gives rise to the nervous system, including the brain and spinal cord, as well as the epidermis of the skin, hair, and nails. The mesoderm is the middle layer and is responsible for developing the muscles, bones, circulatory system, kidneys, and reproductive organs. The endoderm, the innermost layer, forms the lining of the digestive tract, respiratory system, liver, and pancreas.

The process by which these germ layers form is called gastrulation, a crucial stage in embryonic development. The arrangement and differentiation of these initial sejtszövetekre are highly conserved across a wide range of animal species, reflecting their shared evolutionary history.
