Seix is a Spanish publishing house founded in 1911 by the brothers José María and José María de los Ríos, known as "Los Hermanos Seix." Originally established in Barcelona, the company quickly gained prominence as one of Spain’s leading publishers, specializing in literature, journalism, and academic works. Over the decades, Seix has expanded its operations, becoming a key player in the Spanish-language publishing industry.

The company played a significant role in promoting Spanish and Latin American literature during the 20th century. It published works by renowned authors such as Camilo José Cela, who won the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1989, and other influential writers like Juan Goytisolo and Ana María Matute. In 1989, Seix merged with Editorial Planeta, forming Grupo Planeta, one of the largest publishing conglomerates in the Spanish-speaking world. This merger allowed Seix to leverage Planeta’s global distribution network while retaining its reputation for high-quality literary and academic publishing. Despite the consolidation, Seix continued to operate as a distinct imprint, focusing on prestige titles and cultural projects.
