Secunderabad and Hyderabad are twin cities located in the Indian state of Telangana. Secunderabad, often referred to as the "City ofadients" or "Cantonment City," and Hyderabad, the capital of Telangana, share a common history and are geographically contiguous, forming a single metropolitan area.

Historically, Secunderabad was established by the British in the 19th century as a cantonment town. It developed rapidly due to its military importance and its role as a railway hub. Hyderabad, on the other hand, was the seat of the Nizams of Hyderabad, who ruled the princely state for centuries, leaving behind a rich cultural and architectural legacy. The two cities were officially merged into a single municipal corporation, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), in 2007.

Today, the combined urban area is a major economic, industrial, and cultural center. Hyderabad is renowned as a hub for information technology and biotechnology, attracting a significant global workforce. Secunderabad continues to be a vital railway junction and a commercial district. The cities offer a blend of old and new, with historical sites like Charminar and Golconda Fort existing alongside modern infrastructure and shopping centers. Public transportation, including the Hyderabad Metro, connects the various parts of the sprawling metropolis, facilitating movement between Secunderabad and Hyderabad. The combined entity is a dynamic urban agglomeration with a diverse population and a vibrant economy.
