Schöpfungsauftrag
Schöpfungsauftrag is a German term that translates to "creation mandate" or "commission to create." It primarily refers to a theological concept found in Abrahamic religions, particularly Christianity and Judaism, stemming from the Book of Genesis. In Genesis 1:28, God commands humanity, "Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it, and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth." This verse is interpreted as a divine commission for humans to be stewards of creation, to develop and manage the natural world, and to propagate life.
The interpretation of the Schöpfungsauftrag has varied throughout history and across different theological traditions. Some see
