Schulterkanten
Schulterkanten, also known as shoulder blades, are a pair of flat bones located on the back of the upper body. They are part of the shoulder girdle and are connected to the spine by the scapulothoracic joint. The shoulder blade is composed of three parts: the acromion, the spine, and the glenoid cavity. The acromion is a prominent projection at the upper end of the spine, which serves as an attachment point for the deltoid muscle. The spine is a vertical ridge that runs down the center of the shoulder blade, and the glenoid cavity is a shallow depression on the medial side of the spine, which articulates with the head of the humerus to form the shoulder joint. The shoulder blades play a crucial role in the movement of the upper limbs and provide protection to the underlying organs. They are also involved in the respiratory system, as they contribute to the expansion and contraction of the chest cavity during breathing.
