Schafbergbahn
The Schafbergbahn is a cog railway located in Austria, running from St. Wolfgang to the summit of the Schafberg mountain. This historic railway offers stunning panoramic views of the Salzkammergut lake district. The line was opened in 1893 and is one of the steepest cog railways in Europe. The journey takes approximately 35 minutes, ascending 1,190 meters (3,900 feet) over a length of 5.85 kilometers (3.64 miles). The Schafbergbahn is operated by the Wolfgangsee Transport AG.
