SatSun

SatSun is a term used to denote the two-day period of Saturday and Sunday, commonly referred to as the weekend in many Western calendars and scheduling practices. It is often written in a condensed form such as SatSun or Sat-Sun.

Origins and usage: The term combines the standard abbreviations for the two days. In digital calendars, travel itineraries, and event planning, SatSun provides a compact label for weekend blocks, non-working days, or planning that spans both days.

Regional and cultural context: While SatSun implicitly refers to a Saturday–Sunday weekend in many countries, weekend patterns vary. Some regions observe Friday–Saturday or Thursday–Friday as the weekend, in which case SatSun may not align with local non-working days. In multinational contexts, SatSun is used to signal weekend status regardless of local practice.

Limitations: The term reflects the common Western concept of a two-day weekend and may not capture informal days off or holiday periods that fall outside these two days.
