Sarjaliitännöissä

Sarjaliitännöissä, known in English as series connections, refers to a configuration where electrical components are connected one after another in a single path. This means that the electric current flows through each component sequentially. If a break occurs in any part of the circuit, the entire circuit will stop functioning because the single path for the current is interrupted.

In a series connection, the total resistance of the circuit is the sum of the resistances of all individual components. The current flowing through each component is the same. However, the voltage across each component is different and depends on its individual resistance. The sum of the voltage drops across each component equals the total voltage supplied to the circuit. This principle is described by Ohm's law, which states that voltage equals current multiplied by resistance (V=IR).

Common examples of series connections include old-fashioned Christmas lights, where if one bulb burns out, the whole string goes dark. Another example is a simple battery made of multiple cells connected end-to-end to achieve a higher voltage.
