Saphirblau

Saphirblau, or Sapphire Blue, is the second novel in Kerstin Gier’s Ruby Red Trilogy, a German time-travel romance. It continues the story of Gwendolyn Shepherd, a teenage girl who discovers she can travel through time using a chronograph inherited from her family. Following the events of Rubinrot, she travels with Gideon de Villiers, a member of the time-travel guardians, as they undertake missions to repair disruptions in the timeline. The book explores themes of destiny, loyalty, and the ethical implications of changing the past, while deepening the romantic tension between Gwen and Gideon. As Gwen learns more about the chronograph’s origins and the secretive society that oversees time travel, she confronts betrayals, factional rivalries, and the responsibility that accompanies her gift. Publication and reception: The novel was published in German in 2010 and has since been translated into several languages, reaching a broad young adult audience. It is followed by Smaragdgrün (Emerald Green), the final volume of the trilogy, and is part of a broader media franchise that includes a 2014 film adaptation.
