Saparmyrat
Saparmyrat is a given name, most notably associated with Saparmyrat Nyýazow, the first President of Turkmenistan. Nyýazow served as the leader of Turkmenistan from its independence in 1991 until his death in 2006. Prior to leading the independent nation, he held significant positions within the Soviet era government of the Turkmen Soviet Socialist Republic.
