Sampans
A sampan is a type of small, flat-bottomed Chinese junk, typically found in Southeast Asia and Southern China. These boats are traditionally propelled by a single oar or scull, often mounted at the stern. Sampans are characterized by their simple construction, usually made of wood, and a relatively low freeboard. They are a common sight in coastal areas, rivers, and canals, serving various purposes.
Historically, sampans have been used for fishing, transporting goods, and as a form of local water taxi.
